weekend.

weekend.

friday night : yay. it’s the weekend. have some drinks. have some laughs. have some junk food. go to bed way too late. get up with the toddler a time, or two, throughout the night.

saturday morning : get up with the toddler. feel like crap. keep the house quiet so the rest of the family can keep resting.

saturday day : run errands. plan, and do, family stuff. get some work done. make meals. clean things.

sunday day : run errands. plan, and do, family stuff. get some work done. make meals. clean things.

sunday night : inevitable breakdown on my end that i didn’t get a break, that i feel like crap and that it’s not fair that tomorrow’s already monday.

monday morning : back to the grind that never really ended…except now just feeling more tired than ever, unhealthy, and semi-resentful. tell partner i’d really like to tweak my weekend habits, to avoid this pattern. i’d like to feel balanced, less tired, more healthy, and not resentful come monday. he tells me that i suck when i’m serious and left me with the distinct impression that he’s not looking forward to future weekends with me (citing how i’ll watch boring things, like ancient aliens, and go to bed earlier). then he walked out of the conversation, never said goodbye, shut the door abruptly, and drove off to work.

you guys.

when someone tells you they’d like to make healthy choices, to take care of themselves and try to be a better person for all … try not to shame them for it. no matter how you feel about it. it’s a shitty feeling that leaves the other person feeling like choosing health, for themselves, is a terribly selfish choice that they should reconsider.

(also. i really can’t help it. i really love ancient aliens. and the first time that giorgio tsoukalos pops into each episode, it just makes me smile.)
